WHO AM I ?
I’m Makayla Atkins, a graduating senior at Clark Atlanta University studying Fashion Design. I use fashion as a form of storytelling, where every piece I create reflects my experiences, my community, and the world around me. I was raised in Shaw, Mississippi, a small town filled with creativity, love, and a strong village mindset. That spirit is the foundation of my work—designs made with purpose, bold expression, and a deep sense of connection. My goal is to help people use fashion to express themselves and confidently tell their own stories.

WHY FASHION DESIGN ?

My love for fashion started in kindergarten. I made doll clothes from old garments, created my own shows, and built entire worlds out of cardboard boxes. Growing up as a Jehovah’s Witness, I couldn’t always wear what I wanted, so I designed those looks for my dolls instead. That creativity became my passion. Today, I am a fashion designer, stylist, actress, model, and painter. My work draws from abstract art, real-world issues, and personal experiences. I design for dreamers, trendsetters, and anyone using style to find their voice.
